ABOUT AD1

THE STUDIO

AD1 is a professional recording studio located in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood.  We’re known for being “the friendliest studio in town” because we know how to work with artists in a way which brings out the best out in them.

AD1 is equipped with state-of-the-art digital recording gear, acoustically treated rooms, and most importantly, a team that has an intense passion for music and all things creative.

We specialize in the recording of hip hop vocals and production, but our backgrounds span a wide spectrum of genres and we love to work with all styles, as well as non-music recording.

In addition, we offer a wide range of related services like video production, music licensing, artist development, event production, web design, graphic design, and more.  As producers, we license tracks to artists, and also to film and television.

Kira

Producer | Engineer

Kira
has been an indispensable part of AD1, immersed in many aspects of it, since the days when it was half-venue. From organizing and planning, to production and design, he brings numerous skills to the table. When AD1 moved locations, he helped mastermind the construction of the newest studio, and built the control room and booth from the ground up. As a producer and graphic designer for AD1 and Audiodose, he adds a vital element to the team which goes beyond just hip hop.

HISTORY

AD1 Studios was founded by producer/artist Jay Lee, a music industry veteran with over 20 years of experience with recording, mixing, and audio engineering. Over the years AD1 has evolved. Originally named Ground Zero/Space in 2006, it was started as a half-studio—half-venue, which became a staple for weekend after-hours events in Seattle. During that time, the studio upstairs found its niche in recording vocals, working with hundreds of Seattle artists, then later changed its name to AD1.  In 2015, the venue closed, to put more focus on the studio- which was rebuilt to be specifically designed for vocalists and production.
